WHAT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS
Human Rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the World. Ideas over human rights have evolved over many centuries. But they achieved strong International support following the holocaust and World War II. To protect future generations from a repeat of these horrors, the United Nations adopted the universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

HOW DO HUMAN RIGHTS HELP
Human rights are based on core principles like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and autonomy. They are relevant to your day to day life and protect your freedom to control your own life . It also gives you effective rights to take part in decisions made by public authorities which impact upon your rights and get fair and equal services from public authorities.

Most Nations have incorporated Human rights into their Governing Documents and Costitutions, such rights protects their citizens and gives them certain freedom to do certain things without restrictions. i.e, freedom of expression, freedom of movement, freedom of Religion etc.

Even though Some Constitutions in some African Countries categorically stated all the rights of her citizens, far more needs to be done to implement such rights. i.e, the infringement on the rights of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. i.e. Women and Children.

  "He Says he loves me"

DO AFRICAN WOMEN HAVE RIGHTS

Today, the issue of women's emancipation has become a buzz word the World over. It is a great concern to many that women are deprived of their human rights. Even though women's rights is well stipulated in the Constitution of some African Countries, the rights and ideals has remained paper tigers, mere theoretical postulations without any practical bearing on the lives and conditions of Women. In practice, African Society is replete with anti-humanist ideals. Women are systematically relegated to inferior positions. They are considered to be people who can be seen but not heard. In Some part of Africa, Women are not even seen. They are considered tools and properties of Men- whose superior position had been ordained by the divine powers of the Society.

In Some Areas in Africa, almost every evil occurrence in the Society is attributed to women who are often humiliated and accused of being responsible for the deaths of their husbands and Children.

Educationally, women constitute the largest disadvantaged group in most African Countries. The United nations Chronicles acknowledges that there is gross inequality between Men and Women in the area of Education; politically, while women constitute more than half of the population, they are still not well represented.

Violence against women both violates them and impales their ability to enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms.  such violence can be perpetrated in private in domestic violence and rape, by Societies and Cultural practices such as female genital mutilation, honour killings, forced sterillisation and abortion, prenatal sex selection and forced prostitution and trafficking of women and Children for the sex trade.

WHAT WE DO
At Love 2work, we provide advice, Counselling, Seminars/Workshops on specific issues such as discrimination, inequality and human rights, fallings that matter to each of the protected vulnerable /disadvantaged people we support. There can be no fair Society if age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation and trans-gender status remain as markers of disadvantage; and there can be no lasting or deep-rooted progress for disadvantaged and vulnerable people unless we make a robust case for fairness which involves everyone.
